WARM AND RAINY: We will continue to see chances of showers and a few thunderstorms through Thursday across the state. The best chances will be further to the east each day with some sunshine returning in our western counties by Wednesday. Highs today will not be held down by the cloudiness around as highs will easily get into the 50s and 60s and a few lower 70s. Temperatures do come down a bit on Wednesday and Thursday with readings in the 50s to lower 60s. Rainfall amounts up to a half inch are possible with heavier totals in any areas with repeated thunderstorm activity.
MORE ACTIVITY: The GFS has another system coming in late Friday night into Saturday with more showers possible at that time. This may bring another quarter inch to the area. Highs look to be held down into the 40s and lower to middle 50s Saturday with some slightly warmer readings on Sunday as the system moves away but the clouds may linger a bit longer. Monday and Tuesday of next week the skies clear out, the winds pick up out of the south and temperatures look to warm back into the 60s and perhaps the 70s once more.
A POT O’ GOLD IN THE EXTENDED: As we look into the extended period, the GFS has a storm system moving into the state the middle of next week around St. Patrick’s Day with a chance of some showers and perhaps thunderstorms as well. Some cooler air looks to filter in behind the system that may bring our readings back to a more typical temperature for the middle to end of March. The GFS also shows more activity around the 20th through the 23rd with a chance of precipitation then as well. We’ll be watching it as always.
