JUST WON’T STOP: We’ll be seeing the snow moving out later this morning and should see some clearing of the skies especially in the western counties by the afternoon. Highs today will range from the 30s in our eastern counties to the 40s in the west. Another system looks to approach from the northwest again as we head into Friday and early Saturday. This will bring a chance of rain and or snow to the state. The best chance of seeing any snow will be across the northeastern counties once again. This storm doesn’t look to be a big system and may only bring around an inch or so of snow and maybe up to a tenth of an inch of rain.
SHOT TO THE TOP: Temperatures will be heading up as we head into the weekend with readings Saturday in the 40s and 50s rising into the 50s and 60s on Sunday. It will be quite breezy on Sunday ahead of a storm system that looks to bring a bit of rain and perhaps some thunderstorms Monday into Tuesday of next week. It will be feeling a lot like Spring early next week with 50s and 60s likely Monday and Tuesday in between the chances of rain. Temperatures look to cool a bit as we head into mid-week but they still look to remain above seasonal levels in the 40s.
EXTENDED PERIOD: Looking at the extended period, the GFS has a storm skirting our southeastern counties on the 12th with a chance of some precipitation. The GFS then shows a few days of somewhat quiet weather, followed by a significant system around St. Patrick’s Day with a chance of some rain and perhaps some snow at the tail end. Of course it’s model data not a forecast. It’s something to monitor over the next week to ten days. Temperatures are shown to be above average during most of the period with some moderation toward the end. We’ll have to wait and see.
