Bitterly Cold Temperatures? Wait, what, it’s winter?!

A bitterly cold day of several in the forecast makes it’s debut today with high temperatures across the state ranging from a quality 3 degrees in Sioux Falls to right around the freezing point in the southeast at 32. Temperatures are already frigidly cold this morning, in the lower single digits for many, with wind chills in the double digits below zero. Speaking of wind chills, they are expected to be downright nasty, ranging from -30 to -35 below zero in the north to -15 to -20 below zero in the south. For this reason, a Wind Chill Advisory has been posted for generally all areas north of Interstate 80, with the exception of far eastern Iowa. But don’t fret, your turn is coming tomorrow with the vast majority of the northeastern half of the state in the single digits for highs tomorrow.

Mother nature will be teasing us with a small warmup on Monday with highs in the mid-teens in the far north to the lower 30s south. However, as this current system exits the area, mother nature says “LOL, JK” to those lovely temperatures as the majority of the state returns to the single digits (nearly 0° in the far north) to the mid teens south on Tuesday. However, thankfully after this, things look to be returning to normal with a moderation of temperatures. No significant precipitation is foreseen at this time in the extended period aside from some flurries here and there.  Overall, just general cold Iowa weather.

Enjoy your Saturday!
