NICE WARM WEATHER: It will be warm with temperatures in the 40s and 50s this week and mainly tranquil with some outside chances of some rain during the week and better chances as we head into the weekend. Today will see morning fog slowly burning off to partly to mostly sunny skies with clouds possibly hanging tough in the northern counties where a sprinkle or two is possible. As we head into Wednesday more sunshine will be found across the state. Thursday will bring a weak disturbance just north of the state that could bring a few more clouds to the northern counties but any precipitation chances should stay across Minnesota and Wisconsin. Friday will bring an increase in cloudiness ahead of a storm system taking shape off to our west.
WEEKEND STORM: As we head into the weekend, a storm system will come up from the southwest. This will bring better chances of some rain Saturday into Sunday. There is a chance of some wintry precipitation in our northwestern counties on Sunday where colder air will be moving in at the time. We should have better details on that in the coming days. Rainfall amounts with this system could be significant for this time of year with some areas possibly receiving an inch of rain or more. Highs will be in the 40s and 50s for the weekend with cooler readings in our northwestern counties on Sunday due to the colder air. The cold air doesn’t last long as winds turn southerly again Monday into next Tuesday ahead of another system that could bring more precipitation to the state at that time.
DECK THE HALLS: As we look into the extended period which takes us into the week of Christmas, another system similar to the one this coming weekend will be around late next Tuesday and Wednesday with some rain and or snow possible. Like the weekend storm, we’ll have more fine-tuned details on this system later this week. This also looks to end the warmer than average temperatures that we’ve had for some time as readings are looking to head back to more typical levels for the middle of December.
