QUIET AND WARMING: A few lingering flurries will be possible this morning in the northeastern counties as the storm system that brought the rain and snow earlier in the week moves away from the state. We should see some partial sunshine by the afternoon hours with the better chances of seeing sun further west. Highs today will be in the 30s to around 40 with the cooler temperatures where the snow has fallen. Lows tonight will drop into the teens and 20s. As we move through the rest of the week and into the weekend, it will be quiet with mainly sunny skies and slowly warming temperatures as we move through. Highs will get into the 40s for most of the state by the end of the week with the snowpack locations getting held back in the middle or upper 30s for a few days. There could be some light fog by later this week during the morning hours but it should not be a big issue at this time.
NEXT WEEK: The beginning of next week looks a lot like the rest of this coming week with quiet weather, plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. There will be a weak disturbance toward the middle of next week that could bring some more cloudiness by next Wednesday but moisture seems to be lacking with it. As we look toward the end of next week, a storm will be approaching from the west by next Friday which will bring some breezy conditions out of the south but the precipitation will remain to the west for the time being.
FURTHER OUT: The storm will move in late next Friday night into Saturday with some rain then snow across the state. Colder air will come in behind the system with temperatures dropping closer to seasonal levels for the middle of December. The system is shown on the model to move slowly north over Manitoba which will keep the state in the dry slot after the frontal system moves through on Saturday the 12th. The rest of the period looks quiet and cool with most of the stormy weather staying south and east of the area.
