The National Weather Service in Omaha has confirmed that a tornado struck near Avoca, Iowa today.
The tornado, an EF-1, had an estimated peak wind of 110 MPH with a total path length of four miles. The path width is being determined. There were no fatalities, however injuries are unknown at this time. The tornado started 2 miles west of Avoca, Iowa and ended 4 miles north of Avoca, Iowa.
Preliminary information from this survey was based on the damage survey team findings of destroyed outbuildings, uprooted trees, and semi-trucks blown over.
