All of Iowa, Forecast

Cool Crisp November Day

MORE LIKE NOVEMBER: It will feel more like November for the next several days as colder temperatures have returned to the state. It will be partly to mostly sunny today with highs struggling to get out of the upper 40s in our northern counties with lower and middle 50s elsewhere across the state. Saturday will be more of the same with upper 40s north to lower and middle 50s south with plenty of sunshine around.

SMALL WARMUP: Heading into Sunday and the beginning of the new work week, winds will switch around to the south and southwest. This will help warm us well into the 50s and perhaps a few lower 60s as well. This will be a few degrees above the seasonal norm for this time of year. It will remain sunny as well. A new storm system will make its run at the state late Tuesday into early on Wednesday of next week with a chance of a few showers. The system is looking weaker than previous runs so our confidence levels are dropping for a lot of precipitation to come out of this storm system.

LATER NEXT WEEK: Temperatures will drop back to seasonal or slightly below seasonal levels as we head toward the end of the week next week. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny for the most part as much of the active weather looks to steer clear of the area.

THE EXTENDED PERIOD: Taking look further ahead at the extended period, the GFS has a storm system moving just north of the state by next Saturday (14th). What it looks to do here would bring some brisk winds out of the west/west-southwest which could bring temperatures into the 50s for the state. A shot of colder air is shown to move in around the 16th and 17th with a system that could bring some precipitation to the state at that time. After that, temperatures look to rebound toward the end of the forecast with some gusty southerly winds bringing warmer air to the state as we head toward the weekend before Thanksgiving.
