RAW DAY: Rain will be tapering off during the morning hours with mainly cloudy skies for most of the state the rest of the day. We could see some breaks in the far western counties but they will be few and far between. Highs will be in the upper 40s to the middle 50s across the state. However these temperatures are likely to be set in the late morning or early afternoon with falling temperatures through the rest of the afternoon as cold air sweeps in from the northwest. Heading into tonight, the playoff football games will be quite brisk with temperatures falling through the 30s and 40s with wind chills dropping into the upper 20s to mid 30s. There is a chance of a few flurries in the northern counties late tonight into Thursday morning but it will not cause any issues. Thursday will remain quite breezy with readings in the 40s and 50s for highs with skies becoming partly to mostly sunny by the afternoon except in the northeast where clouds may linger for the entire day.
HALLOWEEN RAIN: After a nice day on Friday, another storm looks to move in late Friday night into Saturday with a chance of some rain at that time. It still looks as if most of the rain chances will be out of the state by the time trick or treating takes place, although an isolated shower can’t be ruled out in the far eastern counties of the state during the time. Readings will be in the 50s for highs Friday and Saturday.
WARM UP: As we head into early next week, temperatures will begin to bounce back into the 60s for most of us as winds switch to the southwest on Monday and Tuesday ahead of a storm system approaching from the west. Skies will be mostly sunny both days. The next storm looks to move in next Wednesday into Thursday with a chance of rain at that time. We should have a better look at this storm in the coming days.
LOOKING BEYOND: The GFS has colder air moving into the state next Friday (the 6th of November) through Sunday (the 8th). It has a system grazing the southeastern counties of the state Friday that could bring some precipitation to that portion of the state. It’s too early to determine what type of precipitation that may be however. The temperatures look to be up and down through the rest of the period with several more systems possible through mid-November.
