Here is the 0Z GFSX MOS Run on Predicted highs for Wednesday and Thursday of next week. As was written before, temperatures have been upped well into the 70s statewide for those two days next week. Outside of these selected cities, Shenandoah has a predicted high Thursday of 79°!, so an 80 degree temperature on Thursday is not out of the question in western and southwestern Iowa. It is looking likely that the entire state will see its first 70 degree temperature since early November. With warmer weather comes severe weather, which is possible by late on Friday into next Saturday when a storm system is expected to move into the state at that time. It’s WAY too early to determine if the storms will be severe or not, but given the drastic warmup, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.
Until then, there is a chance of rain today (Saturday) across the state, with the system moving out by early Sunday. Temperatures this weekend will be in the 40s and 50s with the warmup beginning in earnest on Monday and Tuesday.
