COLUMBUS DAY WEEKEND: Sunshine will be around again today with a few more clouds over the eastern counties than in the west. Highs today will be much cooler than on Thursday with 60s to around 70 for highs. The warm weather will return Saturday and Sunday as winds back around to the south and southwest with readings getting well into the 70s and perhaps a few lower 80s as well at that time. A cold front with little moisture will come through Sunday night into Columbus Day Monday but all it will do is cool our readings back down into the 60s and lower 70s for highs on Monday as most of the precipitation will be well away from the state.

REST OF NEXT WEEK: As we look through the rest of next week, sunshine will be the main weather story as dry weather looks set to continue. Temperatures will be in the 60s and lower 70s to start with some cooler air possible toward the end of the week as the flow turns more out of the northwest. It still doesn’t look cold enough for any possible frost or freeze conditions, but it is something to look at as we move through the end of the week.

LOOKING FORWARD: Beyond the end of next week, our next storm system is shown by this model run moving into the state next weekend with a chance of some precipitation at that time. We have plenty of time to watch it over the next couple of days. It looks to be cool during the rather wet weekend with readings being held down due to the precipitation, likely in the 50s to near 60 for the most part. This will be followed by a big push of much colder air through a good portion of the following week, so if we don’t get a frost or freeze late next week, we may surely get one the week after. Temperatures will moderate back toward seasonal levels as we head toward the end of the period, even then those will be temperatures in the lower to middle 60s for the most part.
