If I had to choose three words to sum up the beginning of this week, I would choose fair, pleasant, and warmer. Weather today will be rather tranquil and about the same as Sunday, with high temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s, along with associated partly-to-mostly cloudy skies. The peak of this week, however, will come on Tuesday: high temperatures will rise to the low-to-mid 70s (upper 70s for a few) with partly cloudy skies. This warming trend will continue through the middle of the week with mid-to-upper 70s expected both Wednesday and Thursday.
Things will remain quiet precipitation-wise for the first couple of days before a disturbance, in the form of a low pressure system, trucks into the area Wednesday. This will bring rain chances for the entire state beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday. This will not be heavy by any means – total precipitation from this system should be under a half inch.
By the end of the week, the noted disturbance above will be pushed out of the area by a high pressure system, which will again dry things out, and return us to below average temperatures, albeit only by a slight margin. Partly cloudy skies and 60s will be the highlight numbers for Friday and through the weekend.
Have a great Monday – if you’re looking for a positive, realize we didn’t mention two key terms at all: snow or frost. That alone should be enough to brighten up your day. As our Senior Forecaster Willard Sharp says, enjoy the weather, because it’s the only weather we got.
