Iowa Weather Report September 25th 2015: Sunshine Some More

QUIET WEEKEND: Rain will finally be moving away from the western counties of the state today with sunshine and dry weather continuing over the eastern counties of the state through the weekend into early next week. The warm temperatures are set to continue as well with readings in the 70s to lower 80s across the state through the weekend.

NEXT WEEK: It will be mostly sunny on Monday with temperatures remaining in the 70s to lower 80s across the state. A cold front looks to move into the state Tuesday through Thursday with a chance of some showers and thunderstorms at that time. The best chances of precipitation look to be on Wednesday and Thursday at this time. With the amount of cloudiness around, we should see readings in the 70s for the most part on those two days. Temperatures are likely to head back to seasonal levels in the upper 60s to lower and middle 70s by Friday but this may still change so stay tuned.

RUNNING THROUGH THE EXTENDED: This run of the GFS shows a flow out of the Pacific for the first weekend of October, this would keep temperatures somewhat mild with readings at or slightly above seasonal levels. It also shows a system possibly moving through that Sunday just skimming the northern counties of the state with a chance of precipitation at that time. Some cooler temperatures are seen for a few days thereafter before temperatures moderate again. Another chance of precipitation is possible toward the end of the period, but timing and strength of said system is still a question that we can’t answer quite yet.
