WEEKEND: Another round of showers and a few thunderstorms will move back through the state today. Outside of the precipitation chances, skies will be mainly cloudy and temperatures will be cooler for most of the state. Highs will be in the 60s in the northern and northwestern counties of the state to the lower 80s in the southeastern counties. Rain will move out of the state late tonight into early on Saturday bringing cooler and drier air to the state. Readings will be in the upper 60s through the 70s Saturday and Sunday with lows Saturday night and Sunday night in the 40s to lower and middle 50s.
NEXT WEEK: As we head into a new work week, temperatures will slowly rise through the 70s as we head toward the middle of the week. The GFS is depicting a weak system moving through Tuesday with a chance of a few showers but the best chances look to remain north of the state as the main low pressure center will be way up in Canada. Another system has a better chance of bringing some precipitation to the state late Wednesday night into Thursday but even that chance looks slim for at least the eastern counties of the state. Readings toward the end of the week will be near to perhaps a few degrees above seasonal levels in the 70s to lower 80s.
OCTOBERFEST: Looking at the last week of September and into the first couple of days of October, the GFS shows a system moving through the state late Sunday (27th) into Monday (28th) with a chance of precipitation at that time. Thereafter, the weather pattern looks dry with readings above seasonal levels as we head into the first few days of October. We’ll see if this continues in model runs in the days to come.
