SCATTERED CHANCES: A system will move across the state today bringing with it a chance of a few showers and isolated thunderstorms. Some places will get decent amounts of rain (perhaps a quarter to third of an inch) while others may get left empty handed by the storm. Outside the chances of precipitation today, skies will be mostly cloudy with some partial clearing by late in the day in our northwestern counties. Highs today will get up into the 70s for the most part.
INTO THE WEEKEND: This system will move out later tonight and bring much cooler weather into the state for Friday and into the upcoming weekend. Skies will be mainly sunny with some afternoon clouds each day. Highs during the day will struggle on Friday and Saturday to get out of the 60s with some areas seeing some lower and middle 70s on Sunday. Lows each morning will dip well into the 40s across the state with some areas Saturday and Sunday morning possibly getting into the upper 30s.
HEADING UP AGAIN: As we hit the new work week, temperatures will begin a slow rise back to and perhaps even above seasonal levels once again. We should start out early in the week with readings in the 70s with readings possibly getting into the lower 80s in some areas on Wednesday ahead of another storm system that is shown to move through late Wednesday into the first half of Thursday. This will bring the next best chance of showers and thunderstorms to the state. It’s too early to determine rainfall amounts or the possibly of severe weather at this time.
EXTENDED PERIOD: As we look toward the extended period, temperatures look to be slightly above seasonal levels to start before cooling off toward the end of the period. The GFS shows a few systems moving through the state with chances of showers and storms possible but timing is bound to be off so we won’t go into particulars at this point. We’ll keep watching for any trends that may develop over the next few runs or so (if any)
