HOT HUMID WEATHER CONTINUES: We’ll continue to see hot and humid weather through the rest of the week and into the weekend with mostly sunny skies around. Highs in the 80s and lower 90s will be commonplace across the state. We can’t rule out an isolated shower or storm prior to this weekend, the best chances will come this weekend with a frontal system moving through the state Sunday into Monday. There will be a chance of some showers and thunderstorms at that time. Rainfall amounts around a half inch are possible with isolated heavier totals possible as well. Temperatures will drop back to seasonal levels after the frontal passage.
NEXT WEEK: Temperatures will be closer to seasonal levels as we move into next week. The GFS has a disturbance moving through the area late Tuesday night into Wednesday with another chance of showers and storms at that time. It’s too early to determine rainfall amounts with this system at this time. Highs will be in the 70s to lower 80s through the end of the week with sunshine returning next Thursday and Friday.
OVER THE HILL: Further into the month, the GFS shows winds turning southerly as we head into the weekend of the 12th and 13th. This would be ahead of a storm that never quite makes it into the state. The GFS shows one part moving north of the state while the other part staying south and west of the state. That second part is shown moving into the state around the 16th ahead of a much larger and stronger system at the end of the period. We saw something similar to this yesterday (although there was no video yesterday), however we’ll need more time to see if this pattern trend continues in future model runs.
