Iowa Weather Report August 31st 2015: Summer Isn’t Over Yet, Guys

TODAY: Dense Fog Advisory until 8:00 a.m. for much of the southeastern one-fourth of the state. Mostly-to-partly sunny, high temperatures ranging in the mid 80s. Winds out of the north at 10-15 MPH, gusting to 30 MPH.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 60s. Winds out of the north at 5-10 MPH.

TOMORROW: Hot and humid. Mostly sunny, temperatures ranging from the mid 80s in the north to the upper 80s and low 90s south.Winds north-to-northeast at 5-10 MPH gusting to 15 MPH.

TOMORROW NIGHT: Warm. Partly Cloudy, lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Upper-level ridging is keeping things hot and humid over the area with little-to-no precipitation chances. There may be a slight breakdown in the Tuesday overnight time frame when a weak shortwave moves in, however, by the end of the week, the ridge re-amplifies and we’re stuck with more hot and humid weather. This does appear to break down by the weekend with a low pressure system and cold front bringing with widespread precipitation chances and cooler weather, however, this is too far out to know for certain at this time.

Enjoy your Monday!
