Iowa Weather Report August 4th 2015

DRIER EAST, WETTER WEST: The next few days will have varied weather across the state with chances of showers and thunderstorms almost daily through Friday across the western counties of the state, while the eastern counties look to stay mainly dry, although we can’t rule out an isolated shower or storm that may creep in, the chances are slim to none in these areas. Highs for the rest of the week will remain at or below seasonal levels with 70s to lower 80s in the eastern counties with partly to mostly sunny skies most days, to the lower and middle 80s in the western counties where the chance of rain will be greater.

WEEKEND: Heading into the weekend, a disturbance will move across the state late Saturday into Sunday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms across the entire area. The chance is small at this time, but for some areas such as the eastern counties of the state, this could be the next chance of rain and they may not even get this either. Readings will be in the upper 70s to middle 80s across the state this weekend with partly to mostly sunny skies on Saturday before the system arrives and more clouds around on Sunday as the system departs the area.

FORWARD TO THE FAIR: Looking forward, a system will move through the area around the 12th of August with a chance of showers and storms at that time. This will be moving along the northern periphery of a ridge that will be over the southern Plains back into the Four Corners Region and the Central and Southern Rockies. That ridge doesn’t budge a whole lot through the end of the period keeping the area with some seasonal temperatures and a few systems coming through from time to time. Timing these out is still up in the air and it can still change.
