High School State Baseball – Day 2 – Class 1A Quarterfinals

A fantastic day for those heading out to the high school state baseball tournament today in Des Moines as we have the last two class 1A quarterfinal games! Congratulations to Newman-Catholic and Martensdale-St. Marys for winning yesterdays games and earning an advancement to the semifinals.

Nothing much to mention for today aside from partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s for most of the day. By the time #3 Pleasantville (33-3) plays #6 West Sioux (25-4) at 5:00 p.m., temperatures will likely be peaking for the day at 87° with partly sunny skies. Winds should remain southeasterly for most of the afternoon and evening at 4-7 MPH. Things will cool down by the time #2 Van Buren (29-0) and #7 North Linn (34-10) play at 7:30 p.m. with temperatures in the low 80s cooling down to the upper 70s, along with a light breeze.

So, if you ask me, definitely great weather for players and fans alike. Good luck to everyone today!
