The National Weather Service offices in the northwest part of the state have issued Flash Flood Watches for Thursday. A strong low pressure system will develop in the Plains and push it’s way into the Upper Mississippi Valley region tomorrow. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop with this and may lead to areal, flash, and river flooding. Rainfall amounts of two-to-three inches are expected with localized areas up to four inches. Rainfall rates of 1.5 to 2.5 inches an hour will likely lead to flash flooding. Multiple rivers may also reach flood stage.
