REST OF THE WEEKEND: Showers and thunderstorms will be likely today and on Memorial Day as well with several rounds of activity possible. We could see some breaks in the rain and may see some peeks of sunshine especially in the eastern counties on Monday, but it will be few and far between. Highs today will be in the 70s for the most part and 70s to lower 80s on Monday with the warmest temperatures occurring in the eastern counties of the state where the chance of sunshine is the greatest.
BACK TO WORK: Looking into the rest of next week, the shower and thunderstorm activity looks to continue off and on through the rest of the week. Wednesday looks to be the driest day with some partly to mostly sunny skies but the clouds will be on the increase again as we head into Thursday and Friday with another storm approaching from the west. Temperatures will be mainly in the 70s however some areas could get into the lower 80s on Wednesday with enough sunshine around. Chances for any of the storms possibly becoming strong to severe is low at this time but that could change as we get closer to the time period.
NEXT WEEKEND AND BEYOND: Drier air looks to move back into the state next weekend as some cooler air comes down from the north. This will bring readings down into the lower and middle 70s for the most part with partly to mostly sunny skies. As we look into the extended period which takes us through the first week of June, the 1st and 2nd look to remain dry with temperatures warming to around 80 give or take. Another system is shown on the model moving through around the 4th and 5th with some shower and thunderstorm chances at that time. This would be followed by some slightly cooler conditions that looks to last through the end of the period. See no real signs of any possible heat waves in the extended but we’ll watch for any changes as always.
