RAINY AND COOL: It will be a mainly cloudy today across the state with some chances of showers across the southern two thirds of the state. Amounts will be a quarter inch or less for the most part. Highs today will be in the 50s with the coolest readings over the southern counties where the rain chances will be the highest. As we head into Thursday and Friday, skies will turn sunny once again and temperatures will begin to rebound back into the 60s to lower 70s at that time.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: It’s looking more and more likely that the Memorial Day weekend will be rather wet and stormy across the state with numerous chances of showers and thunderstorms possible. There will be some dry periods during the daylight hours which could entail some possible sunshine. Highs will be in the 70s to lower 80s but lack of any sunshine will lower those readings down a bit. Rainfall will be around a half to one inch across the state with some isolated heavier totals. It’s still too early to determine any severe weather chances with this system at this time, however the chances are there nonetheless.
MORE RAIN CHANCES: The shower and thunderstorm chances look to continue as we look past the holiday weekend into Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Temperatures during the period will be similar to the weekend with 70s and lower 80s possible dependent on whether we get any significant sunshine during the daylight hours.
LOOKING AHEAD: Going into the extended period, a dry day or two looks to be followed by more precipitation chances next Friday (29th) and again on Monday June 1st. We continue to see no heat waves in the extended or anything out of the ordinary. We’ll see if this continues in future model runs.
