The National Weather Service had a Winter Weather Advisory in effect this morning, which has been slowly expanded throughout the morning hours. It is in effect until 4pm this afternoon for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Ida, Lyon, OBrien, Osceola, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury counties. There is a Winter Weather Advisory also in effect until 6pm for the following counties, Harrison, Monona, Pottawattamie, Shelby, Appanoose, Black Hawk, Bremer, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Clarke, Davis, Emmet, Franklin, Grundy, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Humboldt, Jasper, Kossuth, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Palo Alto, Polk, Poweshiek, Story, Tama, Wapello, Warren, Wayne, Winnebago, Worth, Wright, Adair, Audubon, Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Crawford, Dallas, Greene, Guthrie, Pocahontas, Sac and Webster. There is a wind advisory throughout the day in the western part of the state for winds that may gust close to 40mph.
Expansion of the Winter Weather Advisory to the east is possible later this morning. Only an inch or two of snow is possible with this system.
