RAIN RETURNING: We’ll have one more dry day across the state before the next storm system moves in for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Today will see mostly sunny skies with an increase in clouds during the afternoon hours from the west. Highs today will be in the 60s and lower 70s. Heading into the end of the week and into the weekend, the chances of showers and thunderstorms will return. Thursday looks to be rather wet across the state and with that temperatures will be held down into the upper 50s north through the 60s for the rest of the state. Friday looks to be the driest of the next several days however there is still a chance of some showers and storms around. As we head into the weekend, temperatures will rise well into the 70s and perhaps even some lower 80s. This will also bring some stronger storms to the state as well with the best chance being over the far western counties on Saturday and in the eastern half of the state on Sunday. We’ll have to monitor for any changes to timing of the possible severe weather over the coming days. Some rain may linger into Monday as readings cool down once again behind the cold front. Precipitation amounts through early Monday morning will be around 1-2” with some locally heavier amounts possible. Some minor flooding could be possible and we’ll have to watch for that in the coming days as well.
EARLY NEXT WEEK: Most of Monday and all of Tuesday look to be dry and mostly sunny across the state with readings close to seasonal levels for the most part. Clouds will be on the increase next Wednesday ahead of the next storm system that looks to move into our western counties next Wednesday afternoon and the rest of the state next Wednesday night. We have a week to monitor this storm so we’ll watch for any trends on this storm in the coming days as well.
LOOKING OUT: Looking into the extended period, the storm we mentioned in the last paragraph will be moving through the state next Thursday and looks to last into the Memorial Day Weekend Holiday. This could be a repeat of what we’ll see later this week and what we saw last week but that is still up in the air at this point. A lot of things can still change. Readings will be close to seasonal levels but could vary due to the amount of clouds and any possible precipitation during the daylight hours that could keep temperatures down or if we see any sunshine that may bump the temperatures up a bit. More active weather is shown after the Memorial Day weekend as well so the active weather pattern may continue with some breaks for at least another two weeks. Timing and strength is still up in the air at this time.
