Iowa Weather Report April 27th 2015: Sunny and Dry

No Video Today

QUIET WEEK AHEAD: It will be very quiet and dry across the state through at least Friday with plenty of sunshine to go around. Highs today will be in the 60s with those temperatures rising up into the 70s by the end of the week. The model is showing some colder air rotating through the Great Lakes on Wednesday and Thursday that could bring readings down in our eastern counties on those days, but even then skies will remain mainly sunny at that time.

WEEKEND: Looking at the weekend, there is a slight chance of seeing some precipitation on Saturday, but the chances look dismal at best. There will be more clouds around and that could hold readings down slightly but we still should see 70s across the state for the most part and perhaps a few lower 80s depending on the amount of sunshine we see. A storm system will be approaching as we head into late Sunday night and next Monday and that system may bring us our next best chance of widespread shower and thunderstorms. Overall this week will be one for farmers to head out to the fields, gardeners to start planting etc.

OVER THE HORIZION: As we look further into the month of May, the GFS paints a more active weather pattern after a lull that we’re just starting in currently. Several storm systems look to move through the area with very little break through the 9th. Some calmer weather moves in after that through the end of the period with more active weather approaching by the 12th. Of course this far out, lots of things can change, so don’t take this as a forecast. We’re just looking for trends at this point. Enjoy the calm weather this week.
