Iowa Weather Report April 4th 2015: Mostly Perfect Easter Weekend

EASTER WEEKEND: Mainly sunny skies will be around this weekend with readings in the 60s on Saturday and 60s and 70s on Easter. A disturbance will skirt our northern counties late Saturday night into early on Sunday with a chance of some rain but it doesn’t look to be a big deal at this time.

ACTIVE WEEK: The next system will move into the state beginning on Monday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. This looks to continue through the week with several disturbances moving through the state. Temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s through the week with mostly cloudy skies around. This will not be all-day rains by any means as there will be some dry time intermixed with the precipitation. The chances of severe weather at this time look low, but cannot be ruled out at this time. We should have a better handle on this in the coming days.

NEXT WEEKEND AND BEYOND: Some lingering clouds could be possible as we look toward next Saturday, other the sun should begin to reappear once again with readings in the 50s and lower 60s for highs at that time. Looking into the extended period, another system may sweep through the state around the 13th with a chance of precipitation at that time. The GFS also shows another system moving through the state between the 15th and the 18th, but the timing of this is likely to change in the coming days. Readings look to stay within a few degrees of seasonal levels, although the GFS has some cooler air rotating around the backside of the last storm system at the end of the period that may bring readings down well below seasonal levels at that time. Confidence in that solution however remains low.
