REST OF THE WEEK INTO WEEKEND: Some showers will linger in our eastern counties during the morning hours before moving off to the east. Skies will clear and temperatures should make the 60s for the most part across the state. A few more clouds will be around on Friday with a system skirting just to our south but most of the precipitation should stay down there as well. Readings will be cooler both Friday and Saturday with some upper 40s, 50s and lower 60s possible across the state with the coolest readings over the northeastern counties of the state and the warmest over the southwestern and western counties. Winds will swing around to the south on Easter Sunday which should boost readings back into the 60s for most of the state. There will be partly to mostly sunny skies around.
NEXT SYSTEM: The next system looks to move into the state Monday into the first half of Tuesday with another chance of some showers and thunderstorms. It is too early to determine any possible severe weather risk but we’ll keep monitoring it over the next couple of days. Temperatures will drop back to near seasonal levels for the middle of next week with another system possible next Thursday but the best chance of precipitation with that system looks to remain to our south.
EXTENSION INTO MID APRIL: The GFS has a few systems of note in the extended period. One around the 14th and another on the 17th that could bring us some showers and thunderstorms at that time. Temperatures look to be near seasonal levels, however there will be some cooler days and some warmer days mixed in as well, so overall the time frame looks to average fairly close to seasonal for the middle of April. Any precipitation will be beneficial to bring the soil moisture up across the state.
