The chart above shows the precipitation amounts for the year for selected cities in Iowa and bordering states. Many locations in the state were above average for precipitation for the year except in the northern parts of the state into Wisconsin and Minnesota. Numerous locations in eastern Iowa into neighboring western Illinois were over 10 inches above average for the year. In some locations, this has occurred not only this year, but also in 2008 as well.
