Snow Possible in North through Overnight

We are currently tracking a large band of precipitation over the state that is dropping a wide range of precipitation from rain to freezing rain and to snow. It’s important to note that our radar system is having issues trying to differentiate between the precipitation types. No snow has been reported at airports consistently for the last couple of hours. Most of the state is just seeing rain. Freezing rain was reported at Spencer, Marshalltown, Waterloo, and Dubuque with most other locations reporting a light rain to a mix. We should begin seeing a transition to all snow later tonight from north to south. A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted for the north central part of the state through 1:00 AM tomorrow. One to three inches will be possible in this area with 10-20 MPH winds creating blowing snow.
