Christmas Week Storm 2009: Christmas Eve Midday Update

A few changes at Midday, The Winter Storm Warning for Clayton and Allamakee counties in NE Iowa has been cancelled and replaced with a Winter Weather Advisory which is in effect until 6pm Friday evening. This is due to lighter amounts of snow expected to fall in those areas. However, snow amounts of 10-20 inches are still likely to occur west of a Charles City to Des Moines to Glenwood line through Saturday. Winter Storm Warnings remain in effect for 2/3rds of the state, with Winter Storm Watches in the SE 1/3rd. The Flood Watch remains in effect in SE Iowa for possible heavy rain from this system.

Road conditions are mainly wet east of I-35 (there could still be a few slippery spots, especially north of US Hwy 20). There also is some patchy dense fog in some areas as well. Roads are partly to completely covered in snow and ice in Sioux City and in Omaha/Council Bluffs.
