A QUICK LAMB AND A LOUD ROAR: March will be coming in like a lamb for the first day of the month today with partly to mostly sunny skies after the some early morning snow in the eastern counties of the state. Readings today will be in the middle 20s to lower 30s for highs. This will be a short lived break as the next system will move into the state late on Monday into Tuesday with a chance of seeing rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow across the state. We will discuss this system in an upcoming post that will be up later on this morning.
POLAR PLUNGE: The broken record continues as another blast of Arctic air will sweep into the state Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits above and below zero for lows and highs in the teens and 20s. Readings will begin to rebound as we head toward Friday and into the weekend where seasonal readings may be seen for the first time in many weeks.
WARM SPELL: Looking into the extended period, temperatures look to be above seasonal levels for a change to start before a blast of cold air and a moderating trend back toward average by the end of the period. The GFS is showing a system of some significance around the middle of the month that could bring some precipitation in the form of rain and snow. It’s way too early to determine type of precipitation or the amounts but if we continue to see this in the coming model runs, we’ll have to watch this closely.
