It’s Back!

Midday on Christmas Eve

After a few model runs, the snowstorm around Christmas Day has returned with a vengence. The map above is from the 0z GFS model run tonight showing that at Midday on Thursday, the low pressure center will be moving through Missouri, the color coding (that I added), shows the heaviest snow band to be along and north of Interstate 80 in Iowa and Illinois from I-35 eastward. Heavy snow is possible with this storm if this track stays the course (which it has on the last few runs). Travel could become impacted beginning late Wednesday night through the Christmas holiday all across the state. Snow amounts are hard to determine at this time, but at least 6 inches or more of snow could be possible with this storm system Wednesday night through Friday. More on this storm in the coming days.
