Another Cold Morning

This morning was another cold one across the state with many locations dropping below zero. Waterloo dropped to -12, with Clarinda bottoming out at -10. Shenandoah and Ames fell to -8, Red Oak was -7. Where there was less snow on the ground readings didn’t fall as far. Burlington, Keokuk and Fort Madison only fell into the teens above zero. It will not be as cold tonight, with lows generally in the single digits above zero to around 10. Saturday will be much warmer with highs in the 20s and lower 30s (especially in SE where there is less snow on the ground).

A storm system will pass to the south of the state Saturday night, a few light snow showers mixed with some freezing drizzle will move into the southern part of the state. Amounts should be light, but travel may become effected. Only a few light snow showers or flurries will be expected Sunday into Monday, before another cold snap moves in next week with highs back down into the teens and lows near zero once again.
