Going Below Zero

Readings have already dropped below zero over much of the state tonight. Coupled with the winds that are still at 10-20mph, are creating wind chills in the -10s and -20s. A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until tomorrow morning for the western 3/4ths of the state. A Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect for the east 1/4th of the state. Road conditions have improved slightly with travel not advised limited to roads west of Cedar Rapids, south of Waterloo and N and NE of Des Moines. US Hwy 63 between US 20 and the Tama County Line remains closed. The morning will see readings likely between -3 and -13 degrees with high temperatures Thursday barely making it out of the single digits.
