The picture above, taken from the DOT camera on I-235 in downtown Des Moines gives a good indication of how bad the roads are even in a major city. Numerous roads have been closed in western Iowa, including US Hwy 6 east of Council Bluffs and from Anita to Atlantic and US Hwy 71 from I-80 north into Carroll county. Travel isn’t advised in most of the state and a tow ban is in effect in most places. Conditions will only get worse before they get better.
