Another classic Iowa blast of winter cold will settle into the area with temperatures overnight anyway from -11 in Rock Rapids to 14 in Burlington. Winds will contribute to the bitterness of it all with light 5 to 15 MPH winds expected to send wind indices into the -2o to -30 degree range in the northwest to barely at zero in the southeast. The National Weather Service in turn has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for northwestern and north central Iowa and portions of northeastern Iowa through Tuesday morning. Don’t expect any rebound on Tuesday with highs struggling near zero in the northwest with mid to upper teens in the southeast. Tuesday night will be the worst day before a warm up is expected by the end of the week. More details on the long range outlook will be provided in the Iowa Weather Report later tonight.
