9:40 PM Winter Weather Update

A nice band of snow which setup across north central Iowa this evening has bumped up the snow accumulations for this area to the two to four inch range. Roads have already been reported as completely covered with additional snow on the way later tonight and into tomorrow. For this reason, the National Weather Service in Des Moines has extended the Winter Weather Advisory into Cerro Gordo, Hancock, and Worth counties, which will be in effect until 9:00 AM tomorrow.

Elsewhere, wet roads are remaining over southeastern Iowa with no snow being reported there yet. Lightly snow covered roads are being reported across northwest Iowa as the next band of snow pushes into the state. Expect these areas to be pushed to the mostly  to completely covered snow categories later overnight.
