Analysis of Mid Week Storm

6pm Tuesday

Here is the 18z GFS model run for Tuesday evening at 6pm. The approximate snow areas are colored in blue. The heaviest snow looks (at this on this run) to be setting up across the southern portions of the state. The Low is expected to move through Missouri and Illinois, putting the state on the NW side of the storm and possible heavy snow band area. Still accumulations are hard to discern, but QPF charts are showing at least 1 inch of liquid precipitation over the next 5 days (through Wednesday) over much of the state. This would include the snow that is to occur on Monday as well. The wind will also be a factor with this storm, which could bring near blizzard conditions to the state. Later model runs will give a better indication of where the heavy snow will set up.
