…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CST TONIGHT.

RAIN WILL MIX WITH SNOW THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO ALL SNOW BY AROUND SUNSET. LOOK FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF MODERATE TO LOCALLY HEAVY SNOWFALL…LEADING TO SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 4 INCHES BY THIS EVENING. WARMER TEMPERATURES WILL FILTER BACK INTO THE ADVISORY AREA OVERNIGHT TONIGHT…ALLOWING FOR THE PRECIPITATION TO SWITCH BACK OVER TO ALL RAIN PAST MIDNIGHT. THE MAJORITY OF THE ACCUMULATION WILL BE ON GRASSY AREAS AND ELEVATED SURFACES. HOWEVER…WITH SUNSET THIS EVENING…ROAD AND ESPECIALLY BRIDGE TEMPERATURES SHOULD FALL TO NEAR FREEZING WITH SLUSHY ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE ON THESE SURFACES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITY…AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

A Winter Weather Advisory also continues in Fremont and Page Counties in SW Iowa until tomorrow morning. Also a Flood Watch has been issued for SE Iowa through Tuesday evening. This includes the following counties, Marion, Mahaska, Lucas, Monroe, Wapello, Wayne, Appanoose, Davis, Keokuk, Washington, Louisa, Jefferson, Henry, Des Moines, Van Buren and Lee. Rainfall amounts in these areas are expected to be between 1-3 inches by tomorrow night. Lighter amounts will be seen north of Interstate 80, while areas north of US Hwy 20 may see little if any rain from this cut-off low over Missouri. There will be much more on this slow moving storm over the next few days.
