A few locations across the state have set new rainfall records for the month of October. Waterloo has received 5.82 inches of rain thus far. That breaks the old record of 5.71 in 1997. Mason City has received 6.95 inches so far this month. That breaks the old mark of 6.86 set in 1947. Des Moines is currently at the third wettest October on record.
