After the severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Cedar, Clinton and Jones counties this afternoon, the blog went back to find out when was the last time there was a severe thunderstorm warning for any county in the state of Iowa.
The National Weather Service in Des Moines last issued a warning on August 19th at 8:34pm, NWS LaCrosse last issued a warning for an Iowa County on July 24th at 6:44pm (Their last issued warning was only a few days ago in Wisconsin), The NWS in the Quad Cities last issued a warning (before this afternoon) was August 19th at 1:27pm. NWS Omaha last issued a warning on August 19th at 5:49pm (They issued more after that for their counties in Nebraska), NWS Sioux Falls last issued a warning for their Iowa counties on September 21st at 3:25am. So for most of the state, it’s been quite a while since Severe weather has come.
