QUIET FOR SOMETIME: There will be no big changes in the coming days across the state with mainly sunny skies and highs in the 70s and lower 80s across the state through at least Monday. Today there could be a few more clouds with the disturbance that brought the light rain to parts of the state slowly dissipating as it moves off to our east. Otherwise the weather will be fine for the upcoming weekend across the state and the region.
NEXT SYSTEM: The next best chance of seeing any widespread precipitation will be on Tuesday through Thursday of next week as a system will be moving slowly through the state from the west. The best chance on Tuesday looks to be over the western counties with the rest of the state starting to get in on the precipitation by late Tuesday night or Wednesday. It’s too early to determine the amount of rain we could see from this system but we should get a better read on this by tomorrow or the weekend at least.
LOOKING THROUGH OCTOBER: The GFS shows a northwesterly flow through the extended period which lasts almost until the middle of October. This would keep us somewhat unsettled with some risks of showers and perhaps an isolated thunderstorm or two. It will also keep us a bit below seasonal levels for the early to middle part of October as well. A large system at the end of the period may swing the winds around to the south here which could boost readings at that time, but this is more than two weeks out and may not even be around for the next runs later on today.
