THE WEEKEND AHEAD: A cold front will be exiting the state during the morning hours with some showers and thunderstorms possible especially in our southern and southeastern counties. Skies will be turning partly to mostly sunny elsewhere but readings will be much different than what they were yesterday. Gone are the 80s and 90s and replacing them will be upper 60s to middle and upper 70s across the state. Skies will remain mostly sunny throughout the weekend with temperatures in the 70s.

ACTIVE WEATHER RETURNS: The new work week looks to bring the chances of showers and storms back into the state once again. This will be off and on beginning Monday and lasting through Wednesday when another push of cool Canadian air comes down from the north and northwest. The GFS is showing that we could see very cool temperatures toward the end of next week with highs in the 60s and 70s and lows in the 40s and lower 50s.

EXTENDED PERIOD: The cooler than average temperatures look to continue as we head into the extended period. A few systems may come past from time to time but timing these storms this far in advance would be useless. Readings would moderate as a zonal flow looks to take hold toward the end of the period which may bring some activity to the state at that time. We’ll have plenty of time to watch this in the coming days.
