ROUNDS OF PRECIPITATION: Another mainly dry day across the state with readings a few degrees warmer than yesterday. Highs today will be in the upper 70s through the middle 80s across the state. Any chance of precipitation will be across the western counties of the state in isolated fashion. The chances of precipitation however do increase heading into tonight and last through most of the weekend as well. Friday could see an all-day rain across much of the state, however the far western counties may see some sunshine which will allow reading to climb well into the 80s to near 90, while the rest of the state will see clouds outside any rain with readings in the 70s to lower 80s. Colder air will move in on Monday with a threat of showers and isolated thunderstorms continuing at that time.
COOLING DOWN: Tuesday will be nothing like a typical summer day across the state. Readings may barely make it into the 70s across the southern counties of the state while the northern counties may stay in the 60s. Lows at night could get down to near record levels if the skies are clear and the winds are light. Wednesday and Thursday will bring slightly warmer readings back into the 70s to near 80s with partly to mostly sunny skies around at that time.
EXTENDED PERIOD: The trough over the Great Lakes looks to continue for some time with several systems looking to reinforce the cooler than average air across the state as we head further into the month of July. One system around the 21st of July could bring significant rains if this run is correct. Otherwise just hit and miss activity during the period would be possible. Nothing set in stone this far out yet, but we’ll continue looking for any trends that may come up.
