A Wrinkle in the Plan

The string of nice days that is expected to last through the weekend may have a small wrinkle in it later tonight into early tomorrow morning. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible mainly west of Interstate 35. They will be isolated and will not be severe. Rainfall from any of these showers and storms will be light, generally under 1/4 of an inch. The rest of the week looks dry and warm with highs in the 80s to around 90 and lows in the 60s.

Historical WX: 35 years ago today, the eastern Iowa towns of Ryan and Ladora were hit by F4 tornadoes. Many buildings in the small Delaware County town of Ryan were destroyed, including the Co-Op and a church as the tornado roared through shortly after 4pm. The tornado that hit Ladora struck three hours later mainly destroying farmsteads and crops. There were no deaths in either tornado and injuries were minimal.
