Moderate to Heavy Rain Continues

The severe threat has diminished greatly across the state late this evening, after a wild 12-18 hours of severe weather. Currently there is a large complex of moderate to at times heavy rain with a few thunderstorms embedded located mainly east of Interstate 35. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is still in effect until 1am for the eastern portions of the state, but will likely be cancelled early. There has been a lot of damage across the state today. Hardin county was especially hard hit, with damage centered in Eldora where numerous trees were “shredded” by hail up to the size of baseballs and winds gusting to 70mph. Numerous homes and businesses were damaged in and around the Hardin county area. The county has been declared a disaster area by the governor. A full post on the storm reports will be forthcoming later this evening.
