The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk of severe weather for this afternoon into this evening for the eastern counties of the state southward into MO into OK. The main risks would be from large hail and strong damaging winds along with an isolated tornado. The main window for severe weather looks to be between Noon and 6pm before the storms will be to the east and south of the state. There is still some uncertainty regarding this risk area as we currently have a complex of showers and thunderstorms moving through the state this morning. Depending on what this does during the morning hours will be a factor on whether the atmosphere can destabilize and allow thunderstorms to reform in the afternoon hours. If skies don’t clear early enough, more than likely storms will not develop or they will be very isolated. Everything depends right now on what this morning batch of storms will do before we can fully say if there will be a risk of severe weather as stated by SPC during the afternoon. There are several more days of severe weather into the work week as well, however these will be discussed later on as there are several more factors regarding those chances as well. In any case be aware of your surroundings and be sure to have a way of getting alerts if you happen to be out and about later on today.
