FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND: Today will be the nicest of the next three as sunshine will be out in full force with little if any cloudiness around. Highs today will be in the 70s across the state. Clouds will be on the increase tonight as the next storm approaches from the west. This may bring some isolated showers and thunderstorms during the early morning hours in the far western and northwestern counties of the state. The system moves in on Saturday, however most of the rain continues to be in the western and northern counties of the state for the time being. The southern and eastern counties of the state will see partly to mostly sunny skies. Highs on Saturday will be warmer with upper 70s to lower 80s with an noticeable increase in humidity as well. The entire state gets in on the shower and thunderstorm action Saturday night into Sunday. There could be some severe weather with this and we’ll have a better handle on that later on today. The first complex of storms looks to move out of the state by the late morning hours and we could see some redevelopment in the afternoon across the eastern counties of the state. These storms could also become severe as well but the situation is still fluid at this time and we should be able to get a better handle on this as well later on.
NEXT WEEK: Monday will feature partly to mostly sunny skies with readings well into the 80s across the state. It will also be humid as well. It will be mainly dry during the daylight hours but another complex of showers and thunderstorms will be possible Monday night into Tuesday morning. This could bring a chance of severe weather as well with winds and hail being the likely threats given the time of day it would be moving through. We can’t pinpoint exactly where these could develop and move, but we’ll watch trends for any possible hints in the coming days. After some early shower and storm activity on Tuesday, some partial sunshine could peak through during the afternoon hours before it repeats itself Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and perhaps even Wednesday night into Thursday morning as well. This is still up in the air at this point as yesterday it looked as if this pattern was only going to last through early Wednesday and then move on but we’ll see if this continuation of precipitation chances continues in forthcoming runs. Highs during this period will be in the 80s with some areas possibly hitting 90 depending on several factors.
LOOKING THROUGH THE SUMMER GLASS: No real trends developing in the extended period. The GFS is still hinting at a possible heat wave close by that could raise our readings to above normal in about two weeks however the pattern continues to be mainly zonal for the foreseeable future which would mean more systems could impact the state with rainfall at that time.
