Iowa Weather Report June 4th 2014

No Video due to Severe weather yesterday afternoon and last evening.

CALMER: It will be a much calmer few days across the state. After some early morning showers and storms, skies will clear with readings mainly in the 70s today through Friday. There will be plenty of sunshine around Thursday and Friday as well although an isolated shower can’t be ruled out in the southwestern counties on either day.

THIS WEEKEND: This run of the GFS looks fairly pessimistic with regards to any shower and thunderstorm chances across the state. Most of the moisture looks to be confined to Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri with just slight chances at best across the state. This also lessens any possible risk of severe weather as well. We’ll see if this changes but it looks doubtful at this point. Readings are likely to remain in the 70s to near 80 during the weekend with more clouds around although some sunshine is still possible as well.

INTO NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: The GFS is showing on this run some possible rain on Monday and then again next Friday. This would be followed by a shot of cooler air for a day or two before a ridge looks to move in that could boost readings well into the 80s if not 90s across the state. It’s too early to determine if a heat wave is possible at mid-month but we’ll keep tabs on that in coming model runs. It also looks to be much quieter by the middle of the month as well. We’ll keep track of that as well.
