Iowa Weather Report June 2nd 2014

No Video today due to severe weather from yesterday.

MORE STORMS: Another batch of showers and thunderstorms will be possible today with some brief heavy rains possible. Any severe weather will be isolated at best with hail and damaging winds being the main threats of any storms that could become severe. Highs will be in the lower to middle 80s. Tuesday during the day will be pleasant with partly to mostly sunny skies during the day with readings in the upper 70s to lower and middle 80s. Later Tuesday evening through the overnight into the morning hours Wednesday a large complex of showers and thunderstorms is expected to develop in Nebraska and race across the state. This could bring heavy rain, some hail and the big threat of damaging straight line winds. A severe weather post will be forthcoming later this morning with the latest from the Storm Prediction Center.

CALM BREAK: Thursday into Friday will see a break from the rain for a bit with some sunshine returning and readings in the 70s across the state. Any rain activity will be suppressed to the south of the state although an isolated shower or storms can’t be ruled out in the far southern tier of counties close to the Missouri border.

NEXT WEEKEND: The next storm moves in Saturday and will last through the first part of Sunday. This will bring another chance of some showers and thunderstorms with possible heavy rainfall. Severe weather is possible but it is still too early to determine the risk at this time. We’ll see if these chances increase or decrease in the coming days. Readings will be in the 70s to near 80 during the weekend.

INTO MID-MONTH: No real trends developing in the extended period with regards to any storm systems at this point. We’ll watch for any storm trends and or trends regarding possible heat waves. We would have a better outlook but trying to get an outlook done when NCEP’s model page is giving me half of today’s and half of yesterday’s, it is hard to write up a forecast at this point.
