The Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk of severe weather for today and tonight for western Iowa. The main risks would be from large hail and damaging straight line winds. The best chances of severe weather however will be just to the west of the state across Nebraska into Kansas where a tornado threat is possible there. The time frame looks to be from Noon to Midnight across the western counties of the state when the severe weather can be expected.

The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk for a large portion of Iowa for Tuesday. The threats would mainly be large hail and damaging winds, more so the wind later on. A frontal boundary will be set up across the southern part of the state where storms west of here will develop and move along. These storms may form into a MCS or a Mesoscale Convective System that could sweep across the southern half of the state during the evening into the overnight hours. This is still a bit up in the air at this point and some things could still change. What is known is that there is a possibility that this area could be upgraded to a moderate risk in the next outlook which for Tuesday will be early Monday morning. We should be able to know more about that threat at that time. Stay tuned.
